Itinerary

Day 1 Hike Pasochoa Volcano

From El Chaupi will drive south through the Avenue of the Volcanoes until getting to the Cotopaxi National Park entrance. Rumiñahui is a huge caldron open to the Northwest, and it is named after the loyal general of the last Inca Emperor, Atahualpa. The weather in the area is very unpredictable.

07:00 AM | Departure from Quito in private transportation to Cotopaxi National Park.
08:30 AM | Arrival at the park and registration at the entrance checkpoint.
09:00 AM | Start of the hike from Limpiopungo Lagoon (3,800 m), crossing the Andean páramo.
11:30 AM | Ascent to the central summit of Rumiñahui (4,631 m). Enjoy panoramic views of Cotopaxi and other volcanoes.
12:30 PM | Descent and lunch break with a box lunch.
03:00 PM | Return to Quito in private transportation.
04:30 PM | Arrival in Quito and end of the tour.
