Born in Cotopaxi Province, Ecuador, Fernando Iza is an ASEGUIM certified mountain guide with extensive experience in high-altitude climbing. He has summited Cotopaxi over 650 times and Chimborazo nearly 200 times, working for mountaineering companies in Ecuador, Europe, and the USA before establishing his own basecamp at Ilinizas Mountain Lodge. With a degree in Tourism Technology and specialized training from ASEGUIM, ENSA (France), and UIAGM, Fernando is highly qualified in mountain safety, technical guiding, and wilderness first aid. Fluent in Spanish and English, he also speaks German, French, Hebrew, and Kichwa. His most remarkable guided expeditions include the first ascent of a new route on Antisana South Peak, Alpamayo (Peru), Matterhorn (Switzerland), and Denali (USA).
